Bob was a volunteer Sheriff’s Posse and a member of the Newcastle Fire Department from 1958 to 1979, including two years as the Fire Department’s Chief in 1973 - 1974.  He earned his private pilot’s license and, as part of the Fire Department training, was a certified scuba diver.
