William Woodruff

William Waldo Woodruff, age 91, passed away peacefully at Beaumont Hospital May 4, 2014. Beloved husband of 48 years to the late Virginia Woodruff, married to the late Lura Rose Woodruff from 1945 - 1963. Dear father to Marilynn Donald Anton, Holly Geyer John Williamson and Christine Geyer Jay Tsukamoto. He adored his six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Bill was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Royal Oak for over 60 years, where he served on numerous committees. He was among the Greatest Generation of heroes as a proud World War II Army veteran of the invasion of Tunisia and Morocco and then of Sicily, Naples and Rome, serving from 1941-1945. He loved his family, his friends, his church, his community, the Detroit Tigers and a good round of golf. He died at peace and with serenity. He will be greatly missed. There will be a memorial visitation Saturday, June 7, 2014 from 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial service 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Royal Oak.
