Warren Voss

Warren G. Voss passed away surrounded by his family on New Years Eve 2006 at Weston Manor in Newcastle, Wyoming. He was born May 23, 1920, in South Sioux City, Nebraska, the son of Dale H. Voss and Dora Oehlerking Voss. He attended local schools and was active in football, the Sioux City Cycle Club, and graduated from high school with honors in 1938. He married Doris Molstad December 21, 1940, and they moved to California for three years. Returning to South Sioux City, Nebraska, in 1944 Warren helped develop and manage a family owned lake resort and the Tri-State propane gas company along with his father and brother. He was a member of several business organizations and a veteran of WWII. He attended flight school on the GI Bill to become a private pilot. He loved to fly for both work and pleasure and owned his own plane for many years.
He and Doris had three children all born before they moved to Newcastle, Wyoming, in 1953, where he entered the oil business. He was the consummate entrepreneur with several business ventures which included Voss Oil Company, Air Tankers Inc, Fountain Inn, Water Unlimited, Thunder Basin Oil Service, Havoco Oil Company Inc, and he was the president of Weston Land, Inc. He was active in community affairs and served as finance chairman of the Weston County Republican Party. He served on the Weston County hospital board of directors, the Mondell Airport Board and the Newcastle Country Club. Warren was a contributing member of the Newcastle Lions Club.
Warren enjoyed hunting in Wyoming and fishing in Canada and made several trips with his brother, friends, sons and grandsons. He was a long time member of the National Rifle Association. Warren also enjoyed travel, reading, swimming, the study of astronomy, playing card games and chess, and spending time with his family and friends. All who spent time with him were impressed by his wit, good humor, and generosity.
He is survived by his wife Dode of Newcastle, Wyoming; two sons and a daughter. W. Cary Voss and Barb of Newcastle, Wyoming and her son Bill Hansen and her daughter Shari Ferguson and Mike, and son Nickolas Meinke of Aurora, Colorado; Thomas A. Voss and Susanne of Moultrie, Georgia and son Logan Perino and wife Heather; Connie Voss Reimer and Lanny of Newcastle, Wyoming; Six grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren: Michael Voss and wife Katie of Marietta, Georgia, Kristofer Voss of Loveland, Colorado, Crystal Reimer Emry and husband Geoff and children Jackson and Lance of Coeur d? Alene, Idaho, Christopher and Dessa Reimer of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Carol Reimer of New York, New York, and Michael Reimer of Newcastle, Wyoming. His brother Dale H. Voss, Jr. and Rosemary of Verdigre, Nebraska, and three nephews Dale, Richard and Stanley Voss. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Eleen.
