Thomas Bugg Sr

September 11, 1930 — April 2, 2014

Thomas L. Bugg Sr., Age 83. Was born in Kentucky to Vernon and Martha Cissell Bugg, Thomas later moved to Indiana then Toledo, OH as a young boy in grade school. Tom loved the hills of Kentucky and often spoke of the fun memories with his family 4 brothers and 2 sisters. At one point, his family lived between both grandparents' homes Cissells and Buggs and that was a very memorable time because he so enjoyed visiting his grandparents. He spoke of his mother's faith, and fondly remembers his Mammy grandma Bugg who loved the Lord and shared her faith and sometimes her chocolate bars with young Tom. After serving in the US Army during the Korean War, he moved to Detroit, MI. There he met his wife Gloria Constance Callaway while selling her 7 pairs of shoes-some say they fell 'head over heels'. Gloria introduced Tom to the Church of Christ and he was soon baptized. Tom and Gloria married June 27, 1959 and had seven children. Thomas Jr. Joanie, Victoria Bill Johnson, Philip Lisa, Martha Bob Johnson, Laura Doug McComb, Beverly Richard Dadoush, Sandra Keith Taylor. He leaves behind a legacy, including 24 grandchildren many whom he personally baptized into the faith, 6 great- grandchildren, soon to be 8. He also leaves behind his surviving siblings, James Bugg, Sylvia Bugg Blair, and Benny Bugg; previously deceased siblings Lyn, Bill and Betty. Tom was a very loving and kind man husband, father, grandfather who unashamedly shared his faith with everyone he met Romans 1:16. More than anything he loved the Lord and he always told us the most important thing in life is to live for Jesus. He spent most of his working years as a life insurance salesman, where he also was able to witness to many. He was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. Most recently, he gave advice to "take your problems to the Lord first, instead of everyone else. He knows exactly what you need." He had mentioned the day before passing, "I'll be moving into a mansion on Wednesday." More than anything he was looking forward to being with Jesus! We will miss you dearly and look forward to seeing you again one day! Psalm 121: 7-8 The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even forevermore. Visitation will be Sunday, April 6th from 2:00pm - 9:00pm with a Celebration of Life Service at 5:30 pm at the funeral home. Monday, he will lie in state at 10:00 am until time of funeral service at 11:00 am at Rockpointe Community Church, 38100 Utica Road, Sterling Heights, Michigan. Burial at Christian Memorial Cemetery, Rochester Hills, Michigan. Memorials appreciated to Purpose for You and Children International.
