Stephen Fox

Stephen Fox, age 97, a resident of Novi, formerly of Farmington Hills and Huntington Woods, passed away August 14, 2014, surrounded by his loved ones, at Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital. He was born February 27, 1917 in Bronx, NY to the late Phillip and Sophie Fuchs. Stephen was a World War II U.S. Army Air Force veteran. He began serving in the military as a navigator and eventually became a pilot flying cargo overseas. He met his future wife, Ruth Bloom, in the spring of 1942 at the Detroit airport. They were married in the summer of 1945 and had two sons, David and Robert. After the military, he became a certified public accountant for the Internal Revenue Service. Stephen and Ruth traveled the world together. They also spent much of their time as volunteers for animal rights and with foster children. Stephen will be dearly missed and always remembered for his generosity, hard work, and as the wonderful man he was - 1st Lieutenant Stephen Fox. Stephen was the beloved husband for 60 years to the late Ruth Fox; loving father of the late David Patricia Fox and Robert Fox; dear brother of the late Tess Ben, Edward Fuchs and Samuel Fuchs; proud grandfather of Pablo Serena Fox, Jessica Fox and Daniel Chatlin; and great grandfather of Gabrielle Garvin, LayLa Fox, Abriana Fox and "Baby Fox". There will be a memorial visitation Sunday, August 24, 2014 from 2 p.m. until the time of the service 3 p.m. at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W 11 Mile Road 4 blocks E of Woodward, Royal Oak. Memorials to the Alzheimer's Association or American Cancer Society are appreciated.
