Sherri Lynn Comstock was born on October 2, 1957, in Portland, Oregon, to Pearl and Art Comstock.
Growing up in Portland, Sherri graduated from high school, where she actively participated in several sports, before beginning her career distributing parts for NAPA Auto Parts. In 1981, trading the big city for the Wild West, she moved to Newcastle, Wyoming, to join family living in the area. She loved Newcastle so much that she made it her permanent home, and she was later joined by her mother, her sister, and her sister’s family.
While living in Newcastle, Sherri was a familiar, welcoming face to many, working for Decker’s Food Center for over 30 years.
An outdoorsperson at heart, Sherri embraced everything the West had to offer. She loved hunting, fishing, camping, and boating, as well as raising horses, helping with local cattle brandings, and white-water rafting—including a trip down the Colorado River. An avid motorcycle rider, she eventually traded in her smaller bike for a Honda touring motorcycle, embarking on memorable road trips with her beloved cousin Colleen Green, across the United States, through Minnesota and South Dakota, into Glacier National Park in Canada, and all around the Black Hills and Bighorn Mountains.
Above all, Sherri will be remembered for her huge heart and selfless nature. She cherished her family, staying closely connected with nieces and nephews near and far. Whenever someone was in need, Sherri was always there to lend a hand and care for others. That was how she lived her life, and that is how she will be remembered by all who loved her.
Sherri was preceded in death by her parents, Pearl and Art Comstock; her twin sister, Carrie Ann, who passed away at birth; her sisters Pat and Linda; her niece, Shelly Diaz; and her aunts and uncles, Lucy and Tim Howey, Robert and Selma Fowler, Betty and William Roark, and Louise and George Curtis.
Sherri is lovingly survived by her older sister Barbara Eastlick and all of her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great nieces and great-great nephews.
Per Sherri’s request, no formal services will be held. The family will gather for a private memorial in the spring.
