Samuel Edward McDonald, age 77, a resident of Royal Oak for more than 50 years, died May 5, 2011 at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. He was born December 25, 1933 in Detroit. Mr. McDonald retired from Builders Square in 1998. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a member of the Teamsters Local #243, and he enjoyed doing woodworking. He is survived by his wife, Rose Janet Suchocki McDonald; the couple married September 18, 1954; children, Cindy McDonald and Charles Shelley McDonald; siblings, Hannah Oblak, Joseph Betty McDonald, Margaret Manoogian, Audrey Veltri and Raymond Diane McDonald; and grandchildren, Ashley and Aidan McDonald. He was preceded in death by his brother, John "Mac" McDonald; and sister, Cecilia Henry. The visitation will be Sunday 1-9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. scripture service at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W Eleven Mile Road 4 blocks E of Woodward, Royal Oak. Mr. McDonald will lie in state Monday 10 a.m. until the time of Mass 10:30 a.m. at St. Dennis Catholic Church in Royal Oak. The burial will take place at Oakview Cemetery in Royal Oak.
