Cooper, Russell M., age 90, of Royal Oak, passed away June 24, 2014. Russell was born in River Rouge, MI to the late Franklin and Margaret. Beloved husband of the late Helen. Loving father of Thomas Penny Cooper, David Cooper and the late J. Ernest Bonnie Cooper. Proud grandfather of Matthew Tracy Cooper, Emily George McNabb, Jordan Stephanie Cooper and Nathan Cooper. Russell is also survived by several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Helen and Russ married on June 16, 1945, celebrating their 68th wedding anniversary this past year. They enjoyed a remarkable devotion to each other. Together they traveled the world with the travel group, Nomads. They visited 49 countries and all 50 states. An avid bowler for 35 years, he and Helen enjoyed this activity together and, one year, they had the same average. They both volunteered at Beaumont Hospital. Russ was a Mason and Helen served as an officer in the Eastern Star. To the last day of their lives, Helen and Russ were devoted members of First Presbyterian Church of Royal Oak. Members since 1963, they attended Presbys meetings together. Russ served as an officer, active on several church boards, and attended services up until the last month of his life. There will be a Memorial Service Tuesday July 1, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Royal Oak. A luncheon reception will follow the service.
