Roger Duncan

Roger Duncan, age 79, a resident of Royal Oak, formerly of Urbana, OH passed away February 15, 2014. He was born December 12, 1934 in Detroit. Graduate of Urbana High School class of 1954 and was the star football player for the undefeated 1953 Varsity Football team. He then served in the U.S. Army in Alaska for 2 years. Roger graduated from Virginia Farrell Beauty School in 1960. Roger has owned and operated his own beauty salon, Roger's Salon, in Birmingham for the last 35 years. Roger was an avid golfer and served as tournament director for 15 years for the Michigan Publinx Golf Association. He was a proud member of St. Paul Lutheran Church since 1975. Roger was the dear husband of Kathryn A. Campbell, married for 55 years, the couple married March 29, 1959 at the First Christian Church in Columbus, IN. Loving father of Melanie Craig Blanchard, Shelley Rick Larke, Paul Mary Duncan, and Elisa Marc Richman. Proud grandfather to 13 grandchildren; Lauren, Kathryn, Michael, Aaron, Rachel, Benjamin, Hannah, Naomi, Gavin, Liam, Zachary, Jordan and Evan. Great-grandfather to Peyton and Finnley. Dear brother of Noel Duncan and Dianne Sievers. He is preceded in death by his parents Frank Duncan, Irene and LeRoy Lyon, and brother, Leslie Lyon. The visitation will be Wednesday 3:00-8:00 p.m. at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W Eleven Mile Road 4 blocks E of Woodward, Royal Oak. He will lie in state Thursday 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Royal Oak. The burial will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, with military honors, on Friday at 10:30 a.m. Memorials to the Michigan Publinx Golf Association in memory of Roger Duncan are appreciated.
