Robert passed onto a better place on February 5, 2014. Robert started his lifelong career at an early age at RB&W Nut and Bolt, Co. in Coraopolis, PA. He was with that company for almost 47 years, with a brief interruption during World War II. From 1943 until 1946 he served with the 99th Army Medical Corps. He went to London, England and France to set up medical hospitals for the allied effort just after D-Day. Robert came back to the U.S. after the war, where he quickly went back to RB&W and was transferred to Detroit. He met his future bride-to-be, Mary Lou Mills. They were together for 57 years. Robert lived a very full and active life. He was very much into sports. Golf was his main passion, so he joined Red Run Golf Club in 1950, the same year he was wed to Mary Lou. He later became president of Red Run for two years in 1975 and 1976. Robert was well loved by many and will be missed. He was a proud family man and veteran of WWII. There will be a memorial visitation Saturday, March 8, 2014 from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 12 noon at the First Presbyterian Church of Royal Oak. Robert will be interred in the church columbarium after the service.
