Patricia Shrode

Patricia Ann Shrode, age 84, a 73-year resident of Huntington Woods, passed away February 25, 2014 at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. She was born January 3, 1930 in Royal Oak to the late Paul and Winifred Darling. Mrs. Shrode at one time was a dancer with the Borgo Sisters and a ballerina with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. She worked as a sales associate for Jacobson's and was very involved with the Girl Scouts, including being a leader and a cookie chairperson. She belonged to the Huntington Woods Study Club and Seed and Sod Garden Club. She also loved participating in the Beaumont Health Center Breathers Club. She loved photography, needle work and cross stitching. She was the beloved wife of the late Wilford Byron Shrode; loving mother of Paul Stacy Shrode and Martha Shrode; dear sister of Susan Kay Georgia Kinney Darling; proud grandmother of Andrew Joseph Shrode; and also survived by her dog, Gizmo. The visitation will be Friday 2-8 p.m. and service Saturday 11 a.m. at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W Eleven Mile Road 4 blocks E of Woodward, Royal Oak. The burial will take place at White Chapel Memorial Cemetery in Troy. Memorials to the Michigan Humane Society or The Nature Conservancy are appreciated.
