Pearl Ethel Comstock , born October 20th, 1919. Passed away at Weston County Heath Services Newcastle Wyoming, on May 9th, 2011
When Pearl was once asked what she wanted to be when she grew up her reply was: "Nothing special. I figured I was going to get married and have kids. I had already picked out the Old Man "( Art Comstock)
Pearl's "nothing special" proved to be quite the opposite. At "91 plus" years old, Pearl left behind memories that were filled with everything special for everyone who ever knew her.
Pearl was born at home in Newcastle, Wy. on October 20th, 1919. Pearl was the sec-ond daughter of Lulu and William Fowler, and survived the loss of her siblings; Lucy Howey, Betty Roark, Robert Fowler, and Louis Curtis.
In Pearl's own words:
I was born here in Newcastle; went through grade school (the old one on the hill) and through high school.
I married Arthur Leroy Comstock on August 14th 1937, and since I had a half year of high school to finish, I went back in January, 1938, so I could graduate.
We had two children born here in Newcastle: Barbara Lee in July 1939 and Patricia Lee in April, 1942. When Pat was about 4 months old we went to Athol, Idaho, where Art worked at the Farragut Naval base. We came back here in November, 1942. In 1943 we moved to Vancouver, Wa. and Art worked in the ship yards until 1945; then we moved back here to Newcastle.
My daughter Linda was born in April, 1946 at Hot Springs, SD. because the was no hospital in Newcastle at that time.
In 1949 Art couldn't find work, so he went to Portland Or. and the 3 girls and I followed in April. Sherri Lynn and Carrie Ann were born October 2, 1957, Carrie passed away after 36 hrs.
Art was injured at work the spring of 1959 and wasn't able to do much after that. He passed away February 3, 1978 and I finally decided to move back here in September, 1982.
Pearl has 5 children: Barbara Eastlick, Patricia Phillips, Linda Miller, Sherri Comstock, and Carrie Comstock.(deceased).
