Mrs. Mildred Wright

July 28, 1919 — October 16, 2012

Mildred Wright 93, of Story passed away on Tuesday the 16th of October in Newcastle surrounded by her family after fighting a brief and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Mildred was born on the 28th of July 1919 in Manville, Wyoming to Clarence and Etta (Beck) Patten. She was one of eight children. She attended school in Manville and in December of 1940 she married Sherman Wright in Casper, Wyoming. They had 5 children. They ranched in the Lost Springs area until Sherman went to work for Continental Oil Company in Lance Creek. Later they transferred to Linch where Mildred administered the school lunch program for 17 years. She was a wonderful cook and made everything from scratch, including bread, rolls and noodles. Later, she served as a dietician in the Gillette and Buffalo hospitals. They retired in Story where she belonged to the Women's Club and Garden Club. She was a member of the Story Community Church. She was active in the senior lunch program. She enjoyed playing cards every week with her friends. She made lace by tatting, and countless beautiful quilts which she happily gave to friends and family members. Mildred loved to cook and enjoyed the company of her family and friends. No one went away from her table hungry. She always said; "There is always room for one more." She spent the past five winters with her son Roger and his wife in Newcastle, and returned to Story for the summers.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers and 3 sisters, a daughter Shirley, a son Lee and a grandson, Brandon Foster.
She is survived by a son Gale of Gordon, Nebraska, daughter Judy Harshman(Dave)of Colorado Springs, and son Roger (Davene) of Newcastle, 10 grandchildren, many great grandchildren as well as great-great grandchildren.
Mildred was loved by everyone and touched so many lives. She will be greatly missed.
