Colleen Jean Pillon was born on July 24, 1952. The daughter of Mary and George Russell, she was the wife of Daniel Pillon, the mother of Brian, Timothy, Rory, & Caitlin and Grandmother to Kyle, Matthew, and Nicholas.
Colleen dedicated most of her life to helping children and adults with different disabilities, working as a Psychiatric Technician, a Case Worker, and Resource Teacher, as well as being the Chairman of the Governor's Planning Council on Developmental Disabilities. She was an avid advocate for Fragile X Syndrome, fighting to get her three children with Fragile X integrated into classrooms in the public school system, as well as, opening her heart and her home to a young boy with special needs and becoming his foster parent. She was also the Wyoming contact for children with Fragile X Syndrome.
As hard as she worked for people with disabilities, her one biggest passion remained her family. She was very passionate about ensuring everyone she loved was happy and taken care of. Colleen was a very proud Nana, her joy for her three grandsons was contagious, and no one was more excited for the August 2014 arrival of her first grand daughter.
Colleen was a strong and brave woman. Her bright smile and positive outlook on life was nothing short of inspirational. She often left people feeling good about themselves and giving them hope for whatever situation they may be facing. She was always quick to offer a comforting word or strong hug. Colleen's presence will be deeply missed by her family, but her influence, love, and the pure joy she exuded will forever be imprinted in our hearts.
