It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mont Edgar Hamblin Jr., who left us on February 28, 2026, at the age of 61. Born on April 14, 1964 to Mont and Dora Hamblin, Mont lived a life dedicated to his family, faith, and community. A devoted husband to his beloved wife, Cathy Hamblin, Mont was a shining example of love and commitment in their life together.
Mont spent his days as a lineman and foreman for Black Hills Energy, where he was respected not only for his work ethic but also for the kindness he displayed towards his colleagues. He led with his heart, always putting God first and extending his hand to help anyone in need. Mont was a man who came from humble beginnings and worked tirelessly to provide his children with a life filled with opportunities, always striving to give them everything he never had.
An avid lover of the outdoors, Mont found joy in hunting and fishing, as well as in nurturing a profound connection with nature. He was a true family man, and his intelligence and leadership shone through in everything he did. Mont’s spirit of generosity made him a beloved figure in his community, where he was known for his unwavering support and guidance to others.
Mont was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, known for his warmth, humor, and support of those he loved. He is survived by his devoted wife, Cathy Hamblin, and their children AbiGail Hamblin and Mont Hamblin III. Mont was a cherished grandfather to his granddaughter, Octavia Mae Hamblin. He will be dearly missed by his special friend, Chance Wilder and the Wilder family that he loved like family. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Eva Menyard.
Mont’s legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Funeral services will be held at a later date, where family, friends, and loved ones will gather to celebrate his life, share stories, and honor the incredible man he was.
In this time of sorrow, we find comfort knowing that Mont touched countless lives with his compassion and kindness. May his memory inspire us to carry forward his spirit of love, generosity, and unwavering faith.
