Mary McGraw

Mary Louise Kimball McGraw, wife of the late Richard H. McGraw, of Bloomfield Hills, died April 1, 2014. Born July 28, 1923 in St. Paul, MN to the late Alice Marie Cooke and Clarence M. Kimball. She graduated from Royal Oak High School in 1941 and subsequently from the University of Michigan, with a degree in education. Mary was a war bride. She and Dick celebrated their nuptials at the Long Beach Naval Base in California during WWII. Their first home was in Royal Oak, where they started a family, but eventually moved to Bloomfield Hills in 1957. Mary was a substitute teacher, volunteered with Head Start, a Girl Scout leader, a Cub Scout den mother, and was very active with Bloomfield Hills school activities and their PTO. She acquired her real estate license and worked in the greater Birmingham/Bloomfield area. Mary and Dick built Pudding Stone Farm in Fenton in 1976, where they enjoyed their horses, dogs and cats and were heavily involved with animal rescue. She joined the Questers and raised funds for local historic preservation projects. They moved back to West Bloomfield to be nearer to their children and eventually moved to Fox Run in Novi. Surviving are her children, David Leean and the late Sue Henny, Darcey Ron Sevo, Stephen Mary and Brian Jacqueline; grandchildren, Meg McGraw-Scherer, Kristina McGraw Lyons, Laura Sevo, Erik Sevo, Sean, Whitney, Sloan, Mackenzie, Erin, Alex and Julia McGraw; and great grandchildren, Evan and Quinn Lyons, Miles and Sadie Scherer. Visitation Monday, April 7, 2014 from 2-8 p.m. at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W 11 Mile Rd. 4 blocks E of Woodward, Royal Oak. Memorial service and inurnment Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at 9 a.m. at Christ Church Cranbrook, 470 Church Rd. off Lone Pine, Bloomfield Hills.
