Lillian M. Samul, age 91, a resident of Royal Oak, passed away June 9, 2014 at Wm. Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. She was born February 22, 1923 in Poland to the late Leonard and Magdalena Cichon. Mrs. Samul moved to Detroit in 1936, where she and her husband, Joseph, raised eight children. She was actively involved with her community including: Friends of Polish Art, Orchard Lake St. Mary's, a supporter of the DIA and Cranbrook, a former member of Our Lady Queen of Apostles, St. Bart's, St. Rita, Gesu and St. Mary's of Royal Oak. In her spare time, she enjoyed being with her family, traveling, gardening and reading. Mrs. Samul was the beloved wife of the late Joseph; dear mother of Thomas Connie, Ronald Kathleen, Daniel Donna, Mark Ann, Linda, Judith Misen Chau, Sandra Andrew Hessen and the late Richard. Mother-in-law of Linda. Also survived by 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Sister of Charlotte Walter Markusiewicz, the late Stella Topoll and Marilyn Dryzmala. Visitation Friday 2-8 p.m. and funeral Saturday 9:30 a.m. at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W. 11 Mile Rd. 4 blks. E. of Woodward, Royal Oak. Interment Oakview Cemetery, Royal Oak.
