After graduating from St. Mary's Academy, suma cum laude, in Windsor, Ontario, Kate worked at Bell Telephone Company in Detroit before becoming an amazing full-time mother and wife to Charlie. She loved each and every one of her babies and continued to love them all with all her heart as they grew into adults. She was very proud of all of them as individuals and in all their accomplishments. And, if you asked who her favorite was she could never pick one--they were ALL her favorites! Kate and Charlie enjoyed many years of traveling around the country visiting their children and grandchildren; in turn, every summer, they eagerly anticipated and deeply savored everyone's visits with them at the cottage in Belle River Ontario. Kate loved dancing and singing, music of all types, reading, singing hymns, the Holy Catholic Mass, couples bridge club, synchronized swimming, bowling, bingo, sun tea, a glass of wine, and Vegas trips with her sister, Rosie. Most of all, she loved being with family and spending summers at the infamous Hathaway cottage where she could swim, watch beautiful sunsets, take walks on the road, enjoy fresh vegetables, fruits and corn, tend to her flowers, cook huge meals for all, and enjoy her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, dear neighbors and friends. She was an amazingly strong woman who was truly loved and admired and will be deeply missed by all of her family and everyone who ever knew her. Kate is no doubt happy to be in the arms of her Lord!
