Esther Marie Arbenowske, age 87, a resident of Royal Oak for 63 years, died April 16, 2011 at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. She was born November 29, 1923 in Detroit to the late Leo and Mimi Salgot. Mrs. Arbenowske began her career at Sanders in downtown Detroit. She was employed for many years at several locations, starting as a soda jerk and moving into customer service. It was at Sanders that she met her future husband, Arthur Arbenowske. She was extremely sociable, enjoyed telling stories and loved her family. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Arthur; the couple married October 21, 1943 in Detroit; son, Jerry Teri Arbenowske of Royal Oak; brother, Joseph Mary Salgot; grandchildren, Keith and Sara; many nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters. The visitation will be Tuesday 4 p.m. until the time of service 7 p.m., with the Chaplain David Palmer officiating, at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W Eleven Mile Road 4 blks. E of Woodward, Royal Oak. The burial will take place on Wednesday 2 p.m. at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly.
