Elizabeth Mason

Elizabeth S. Mason, age 89, a resident of Royal Oak, passed away June 13, 2014. She was born June 8, 1925 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada to the late John and Mary MacDonald Schearer. Mrs. Mason graduated from the Detroit Institute of Technology with a bachelor's degree in chemistry. She was formerly employed as a long time copywriter at J.L. Hudson in Detroit, Montgomery Ward and Kmart Headquarters in Troy. Her affiliations included the Royal Oak Woman's Club, Women's Auxiliary of the Royal Oak Salvation Army and the Royal Oak Zoning Board of Appeals. She was the beloved wife of the late Clyde J. Mason d. 1974; the couple married February 5, 1949 in Detroit. Loving mother of Elizabeth Susan Alan Ochalek, Clyde P. Suzanne Mason, the late Roger J. Mason and Bradley R. Mason. Proud grandmother of Catherine E. Ben Wilensky, Caroline J. Ryan Salucci and Alexandra L. Ochalek. Mrs. Mason will lie in state Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Royal Oak. Burial will take place at White Chapel Memorial Cemetery in Troy. Memorials to the First Presbyterian Church of Royal Oak or the Women's Auxiliary of the Royal Oak Salvation Army are appreciated.
