Donald Runde

October 27, 1917 — April 23, 2011

Runde, Donald W. CLU, age 93, of Huntington Woods, 10/27/1917 - 4/23/2011. Loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Leaves behind Virginia nee Stallman his wife of 60 years. Loving father of Susan Richard Peludat, Brian Traci, Kathleen Dana Harlan, Cynthia Mark Monohon, Paul, and David Stacy. Proud grandfather of Jennifer nee Sweet Kaser, Tony Sweet, Matthew, Michelle, Vladi and Sasha Runde, Callie and Joshua Harlan, Nicholas Niewolak, Heather Monohon, Cheyanne and Sequoia Wallace, Brittany, Megan, Lea, and Ashley Runde. Dear great grandfather of Tyler, Genevieve, and Isabell Harlan. In addition to being a very devoted husband he was a WWII veteran, career sales agent with Mass Mutual Life Insurance Co., bringing his daughter Susan into the insurance and retirement planning business he created; Planning Counselors and Associates. He was a Boy Scout leader, seeing his son Dave make the rank of Eagle Scout. He was also an involved member of St. Mary Catholic Church of Royal Oak, at one time he was referred to as "the pillar of the Church". He also volunteered with the Lions Club, was a fisherman, and a photographer. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He loved life, the Lord, his family, his profession and traveling with Virginia. He was a very talented photographer, "we have so few pictures of him during the child raising period because he was always behind the camera". At one time Msgr. Easton at Shrine parish asked him to be the unofficial photographer for the Pope's visit to Michigan. His love for his grandchildren and great grandchildren always was evident in his tender manner toward them and in the loving way they responded to him. He was a wonderful role model. Lord, Grant me the serenity to accept the things I can not change, courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference. Visitation Monday 4-8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Scripture Service at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W. Eleven Mile Road 4 Blks. E. of Woodward, Royal Oak. Funeral Mass Tuesday 10:30 a.m. In-state until time of Mass 11 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Royal Oak. Memorials appreciated to Manresa Jesuit Retreat House in Bloomfield Hills.
